The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC) has announced its inaugural Legislative Fly-In. The event takes place September 1–2, 2026, in Washington, D.C. It will be held at the Hyatt Capitol Hill.

The Fly-In brings together IICRC-certified professionals, certified firms, industry leaders, and stakeholders from across the country. Together, they will engage directly in the legislative process.

A New Chapter in IICRC Advocacy

This event marks a major step forward for the IICRC. The organization has long championed advocacy, education, and industry representation. Now, it is taking that mission directly to Capitol Hill.

Attendees will learn about key policy issues affecting the cleaning and restoration industry. Furthermore, they will join strategic discussions with fellow industry leaders. Most importantly, they will meet face-to-face with members of Congress and their staff.

James Tole, IICRC President and Chairman of the Board, spoke to the significance of the event. “This event is about empowering IICRC-certified professionals and firms to have a voice in the policies that shape our industry,” he said. “By bringing our community directly to Washington, we are creating meaningful opportunities. We will advocate for standards, certifications, and the critical role our industry plays in disaster recovery and public health.”

Robbie Bradshaw, Director of Government Relations for the IICRC, added context on the industry’s growing policy presence. “IICRC standards and certifications are now cited in federal legislation,” Bradshaw said. “Our industry is firmly on the policy radar. This Fly-In ensures we are not just part of the conversation — we are actively shaping it.”

What the Two-Day Event Includes

The IICRC Legislative Fly-In offers a full agenda. First, attendees will join a Certified Firm Roundtable. Next, they will receive issue briefings on key legislative priorities. In addition, the event includes advocacy training and preparation sessions. Finally, participants will attend coordinated meetings with federal lawmakers and their staff.
